Piccadilly AV provided full AV support for the RAF on AIR multi-media event
Team Piccadilly excelled at the Waddington Airshow 2011!
We were asked to provide a full Stage Set, large LED Screen, sound and lighting for the New AV experience at the 2011 show.
The event in Hanger 4 aimed to create a spectator friendly area, where airshow visitors could learn more about the RAF’s operations, both at home and abroad.
From our first meeting withThe Airshow Director the idea was to create a new feature with audio visual being the key to captivateand communicate with the audience.
Following site visits with our Project Manager, Mike Adams, preliminary ideas were consolidated into the use of a 24sqm LED screen to enable high quality, high brightness images. Our in-house set and stage department created a huge custom screen surround, lit by LED parcans and LED battens to reflect the RAF colours. Moving heads and generic lighting were rigged on a large truss within the hangar to light the graphics, the presenters and guests. We also flew Logic Systems cabinets for speech reinforcement in the hangar whilst Turbo Sound units help to recreate the powerful sound of the aircraft. It has to be said that it couldnt really compete with a Vulcan bomber at full throttle!
Guest speakers included the RAF’s Presentation Team, Miss England and Carol Vorderman. Carol interveiwed a range of guests including Jon Allen-Butterworth, a former RAF armourer who lost his left arm in a mortar attack in Iraq in 2007 and who is a 2012 Paralympics hopeful, and Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Moore, the first female RAF Red Arrow team pilot.
So its “over and out” for 2011!
